Five-time Grammy Award winning group, The Winans, was awarded the Agape Award at A Night of Inspiration at Carnegie Hall this past weekend.
The Winans are comprised of brothers Marvin, Carvin, Michael and Ronald Winans. Their younger brother, BeBe Winans, presented them with the award in front of the crowd of hundreds on December 14.
“It was an honor to present my dear brothers this award last night at Carnegie Hall,” Bebe said in a video on Instagram where he told a story about being in the studio with his brothers during their first recording. “Yet I’m reminded of the lyrics of one of their many songs and I quote, For We May Never Know all the people we have touched For We May Never Know all the lives that we have reached, but we know that you know, and a record you do keep and when the end does finally begin, we will receive a GREAT REWARD for what we’ve done.”
BeBe went on to applaud his brothers for always presenting what God has on their hearts. Carvin Winans said he was brought to tears upon learning the group would get the Agape Award when Ray and Vivian Chew called them. He also said being back at Carnegie Hall brought back members as they performed at the venue more than 30 years ago to a sold out crowd.
Under the direction of acclaimed producer, composer, and music director Ray Chew, and co-produced with his wife and business partner, Vivian Scott Chew, A Night of Inspiration also featured other star-studded performances from Regina Belle, Pastor Shirley Caesar, Erica Campbell featuring Krista Campbell, Tina Campbell, Isaac Carree, Olen Cesari, Melvin Crispell, Doug E. Fresh, Cory Henry, Dave Hollister, Rahsaan Patterson, Kierra Sheard-Kelly, Bishop Hezekiah Walker, Brian Courtney Wilson, and Juan Winans, who’s father is Carvin Winans.
