Lisa Page Brooks continues to see success from seizing her viral moment. She turned her “yea, yea, yea, yea’s” into a top charting song. “The Grateful Chant” is currently sitting atop the iTunes Gospel and Christian Songs chart.
Last week, Brooks sat down with Get Up! Mornings with Erica Campbell where she shared how the message of the song is about gratitude despite losing her husband, Bishop Michael A. Brooks. Bishop Brooks died back in July of this year. He was one of the founding members of Commissioned alongside Fred Hammond.
Simply put, her faith is guiding her through the pain. She’s letting the Lord order her steps.
“My life is one second at a time. I’m breathing it out. I’m praying it out. I’m crying it out. I’m praising it out,” Brooks said.
“The Grateful Chant” is at its root a testimony to Brooks’ resilience. No matter what difficulties might arise, she believes “the devil is a liar,” and victory awaits those who trust God on the other side of pain or whatever they might be struggling with.
Brooks put “The Grateful Chant” together with the help of her family. She’s a mom of four, one of which is Stellar Award-winning artist Tasha Page Lockhart.
She doesn’t plan to stop at “The Grateful Chant.” She said more music is on way, but at 60, she must work at her own pace. She’s also focused on her ministry at Restoration Fellowship Church International in Detroit. That’s the church her husband led before his passing. Brooks believes there’s more for her to accomplish musically and spiritually.
“I’m still carrying that, just being prayerful,” she said.
Brooks encourages anyone who wants to hear more music and learn about her or her ministry, to follow her on social media.
